Not Yo Mamas Banana Pudding
My husband loves banana desserts. With a birthday in January, I used to make him a banana cream pie until we found this recipe! This is not your typical banana pudding recipe and with it being a Paula Dean recipe, it doesn’t even have butter in it 😆. It really is a crowd pleaser if you like bananas or if you tolerate them. I am more of a person who tolerates bananas but I love this recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 12-oz container of whipped topping, thawed
- 1 14-oz can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups milk
- 1 5-oz box instant French vanilla pudding mix
- 6 bananas sliced
- 2 bags Chessman cookies
Now there are some of you out there that will take short cuts and cheap out on the cookies! DO NOT use anything but the Chessman cookies. This really makes this recipe. I see you. I know who you are. LOL!
Instructions:
Blend softened cream cheese with sweetened condensed milk. Set aside. Place pudding and milk in bowl and mix. Once that comes together like thick pudding, blend with cream cheese mixture then fold in whipped topping.
Place chessman cookies in bottom of a 9x13 pan. Place sliced bananas over cookies. Pour mixture over bananas. Place chessman cookies over the top. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
I find that this dessert will remain delicious for about 24-48 hours. The cookies will soften the longer it’s in the refrigerator. The bananas will begin to darken after 24 hours depending on how ripe they were when you sliced them.
