Croutons
Have you ever made homemade croutons? Sometimes it’s so worth it! They are delicious. Today I’m sharing with you the simple pleasure of homemade croutons. They really are simple and to some of you you’re wondering why I would post something so simple and others are feeling a bit irritated that I would use the word, simple. Ha!
I bought some amazing looking rosemary focaccia at Sam’s Club the other day but it was one of those weeks where we didn’t eat much bread and it started to dry out. I immediately got excited because I knew exactly what I was going to do with this stale bread. I immediately pulled it out of the package and allowed it to air dry a bit more before cutting it into small chunks and gouging it with some butter and salt.
They were delicious on our lunch plate today when I made homemade Creamy Chicken and Noodle Soup and caesar salad with homemade croutons.
I also may have eaten a few when I pulled them out of the oven too.
Croutons
4 C old bread (I used rosemary focaccia) cubed
4 T butter or olive oil
1 -2 teaspoons Salt
Seasoning: Garlic, pepper, rosemary, thyme
Cube bread in 1 inch cubes. Place on baking sheet. Pour melted butter (or oil) over bread pieces. Sprinkle seasonings and salt on bread and toss. Let bake in oven at 250 for 1 hour. Toss every 15 minutes.
Let cool on counter completely before storing in an airtight container or eating them all like I do 🥴.
