Biscuits and Gravy Casserole

The corner piece is the best.

This is my favorite breakfast casserole. It is super easy with ingredients that are easy to get. It does call for a packet of dry gravy mix but if you’re comfortable making sausage gravy, I encourage you to make it on your own rather than buy a packet.

When my son, Brock, was playing football for Pop Warner as a Kindergartner, we had some very early Saturday mornings. We had to leave at 6:00 AM to go across the city where he played. I would bake this early in the morning and take it with us to have a fun breakfast tailgate party while we waited. This casserole sits overnight in the fridge so it’s perfect to put in the oven in the morning and take it with you to a breakfast party, a park gathering or a men’s breakfast.

Biscuits and Gravy Casserole

1 can of store bought biscuits
1 pound mild or spicy breakfast sausage sausage
1 pkg Sausage Flavor Country Gravy Mix
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
3 eggs
1/2 cup milk
2 C heavy cream
Salt & pepper to taste
1 teaspoon minced onion

In a 9x13 pan (use a foil pan if you are traveling with it for easy clean up) spray with cooking spray. Cut the biscuits into 4’s. Place the pieces in the bottom of the pan. Sprinkle with shredded cheese. In a bowl mix 3 eggs, milk, heavy cream, salt, pepper and mined onion. Pour on top of biscuits. Finally, make the gravy following the package directions (unless you make your own) and pour gravy on the top. Cover and place in refrigerator overnight.
Bake for 70-80 minutes at 350℉

Tip: I use both spicy and mild sausage and blend together
(I use extra sausage)

Tip: I make my gravy with the drippings from the sausage. Just add flour and milk pour in sausage pan and add salt and plenty of pepper. Let slightly thicken then add to the casserole.
