Dinner Rolls (Texas Roadhouse rolls)
Dinner Rolls
- 3 1/4 cups flour or bread flour
- 1 cup warm whole milk
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 4 Tablespoons melted butter
- 1 egg
- 3 Tablespoons honey
- Pinch of salt
- Stick of butter (to rub over top of rolls when they come out of oven)
Warm your milk and place it in the mixing bowl with sugar and yeast and let sit for 5 minutes. Begin your stand up mixer with the dough hook attachment. Add honey, melted butter and egg. Add flour and salt. Mix for at least 5 minutes.
Cover and let rise for 1-2 hours and doubles in size.
After dough has risen, punch it down and drop on a lightly floured, clean surface. Roll out with a rolling pin. Shape dough in a rectangle and cut into 12 equal pieces. Fold pieces in half and placed on a parchment lined baking sheet and cover.
Let rise again for 1 hour (or 30 minutes if you’re in a hurry)
Bake for 15 minutes at 375℉
Rub rolls with stick of butter after taking them out of the oven.
Butter:
- 1 stick of butter
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 T honey
- 2 T powdered sugar (optional)
Mix with fork and spread on warm rolls.
